Grand opening of Fanuc Nordic Headquarters

FANUC-the world-leading factory automation company, inaugurated its new Nordic Headquarters in Malmo, Sweden on 8 December 2021 Japanese representatives from FANUC were present. Invited were partners from all over the Nordic countries, the Baltic countries and other parts of Europe.

The head office and production facilities for FANUC are located at the foot of Mount Fuji. In FANUC Malmo's entrance lobby you are therefore greeted by an impressive mural of the area.

Next to Lake Manyara in Oshino-mura is FANUC´s unique production facilities and Headquarter which cover an area of over 1.5 million square meters. There are also 12 research and development centers.

All guests were invited on a tour of the new Malmö facility. "Service First" summarizes in a good way FANUC's commitment: Lifetime maintenance of its products as long as they are used by their customers. Excellent cicerones were Fanuc´'s key people in Malmö

Several future-oriented examples of intelligent automation were presented. But today's shining star was FANUC M-1000 with a wrist payload of 1000 kg and a maximum reach of 3253 mm. First time introduced in Europe in October this year.

Another star this day was FANUC's operations coordinator Maria Skogh. Her interpretation of Josh Groban's "You raise me up" and interaction with a FANUC robot was a real highlight.

The President of FANUC Europe Shinichi Tanzawa presented FANUC's profile. With 8,200 employees and a turnover of JPY 551 billion, the company lives up to its slogan "The Factory Automation Company".

As early as the 1960s, FANUC established itself in Sweden and in 1981 the company FANUC Sweden was established.

In terms of service FANUC is absolutely world class. Service KPI (Key Performance Indicators) shows with regard to service parts that of 51,750 service parts only 14 could not be delivered within 20 hours during a 12-month period . The 14 parts were delivered within a week.

All FANUC industrial robots, CNC systems and CNC machines are manufactured in Japan. About 80% is exported. In addition to production at Headquarter, FANUC has plants in Mibu and Tsukuba.

Dr Yoshiharu Inaba, Chairman of FANUC Corporation and CEO Kenji Yamaguchi, President of FANUC Corporation, participated in the inauguration via video link from Japan.

The Managing Director of FANUC Nordic Cerold Andersson gave an inspiring speech about the new FANUC Nordic Headquarters and its location in Malmö and the expansive Greater Copenhagen area.

When it was time for the formal part of the inauguration, to cut the ribbon, the red ribbon was rolled out

Time for a double cut. Cerold Andersson and Shinichi Tanzawa are ready with the scissors in full swing. And a second later is the Fanuc Nordic Experience Center inaugurated.

The chairman of the Swedish Industrial Robot Association, Ove Leichsenring, rounded off his interesting analysis with: "The future of robotics is bright. This is an exciting time to be in the industry."

The last lecture of the day was presented by FANUC's Konrad Grohs, Director IoT Busines, Europe. In a superb way, he presented FANUC's" Internet of Things" solutions for how companies can increase their operational efficiency

President and CEO, FANUC Europe, Mr. Shinichi Tanzawa and Hon. Consul General of Japan Mr. Leif Almo who, among other things, delivered a greeting from Japan's Ambassador to Sweden Mr. Masaki Noke.
At the inauguration FANUC was also represented by Mr. Mitsuyuki Taniguchi (European Vice President, FANUC Europe Corporation), Mr. Yushi Takayama (Vice President Robomachine, FANUC Europe Corporation) and Mr. Yunfeng Wu (Vice President FEG, FANUC Europe Corporation

Plenty of excellent food and drink was served this evening. From lots of delicious dishes to excellent wines. And of course in honor of the day; FANUC pastries.

And what better round-up a whole day and also further strengthens the ties between Sweden and Japan than an ABBA tribute performance. The Swedish group The Visitors concluded with an acclaimed stage show.

And when darkness descended into night the FANUC Nordic Experience Center could breathe a sigh of relief. One of the best values of a successful inauguration is that the mood is always at its best and the building remains intact.
